Agreed, otherwise it's talking to the wind or to hear oneself speak. I think the main flaw in Lynchs quote is that art is human made and has intention by the artist where reality is not human made (at least not in the same sense that art is made).

Entertainment should be an escape, maybe, but that's just a subset of art.
