What should I spend more time explaining in October?

A policy, a local question, something from the research side—or a topic I haven’t brought up yet. What deserves a closer look?

Research keeps teaching me: write down what happened, not what you hoped would happen. Same goes for policy. Measure results. Change course when the evidence calls for it. A talking point isn’t an outcome.

Government shouldn’t need a decoder ring.

Plain language. Accessible meetings. Records people can find. A clear explanation of who made a decision and why.

What’s a skill everyone should get a chance to learn?

Growing food, fixing something, cooking a meal, understanding a paycheck, making art—what would you put on the list?

Running water feels ordinary until it isn’t.

I want public investment in reliable water systems and clear information about water quality. The basics should work.

I want tips to be extra on top of fair base pay.

People should be able to count on their paycheck without guessing how generous the next customer will be.

If you could make one government process less ridiculous, which would you choose? Where do people get stuck, and what would a better version do?

Keep account numbers and personal documents out of the comments.

Public money. Public receipts.

Clear budgets, searchable spending records, contracts people can find, and plain-language explanations. Transparency should be useful, not a scavenger hunt.

Mushroom questions welcome. What changed? What happened? Can we repeat it? I want public policy held to that same standard.

One good mushroom grow isn’t enough. I want results we can repeat. Public policy deserves the same standard: test ideas, measure whether they help, and check whether the results hold up. Keep what works. Change what doesn’t.

As a Navy veteran, I want honoring service to mean reliable healthcare, housing stability, and a benefits process people can actually navigate.

A thank-you should come with follow-through.
September 27, 2026 at 5:05 PM
Finish the sentence: “That should be a public service.”

What’s your answer—and what would it make easier in everyday life?

Outside counts as a classroom.

I want schools to have resources for gardens, food education, and accessible outdoor learning—and educators to have the time and support to make it work.

A very serious Friday question: does “cleaning” count if the pile is now in a different room?

Asking for the entire species.

A full-time job should cover a life.

Higher wages. Stronger unions. Pay that keeps up with the cost of living. People shouldn’t have to treat exhaustion as a badge of honor.
September 25, 2026 at 5:06 PM
Fungi aren’t plants. They’re their own kingdom. Public policy needs the same habit: understand what you’re dealing with before writing rules for it. Evidence first. Labels second.

Learning shouldn’t mean decades of debt.

I support tuition-free public college and accessible trade training. People deserve more ways to build a life.

Time off shouldn’t just be time to recover enough to work again.

I support a 32-hour workweek without cutting weekly pay, with transition support for small businesses. Work should leave room for living.

Teeth. Eyes. Mental health.

All healthcare.

I support coverage that includes all three. The human body did not come with an à la carte menu.

Autumn has entered the chat. 🍂

The September equinox is today. As someone who studies plants and fungi, I have a very normal amount of enthusiasm about this.

What’s the first sign of fall you notice?
