Some of us remember the 200th anniversary in 1976. It was joyful, exciting, patriotic, and fun! I spent it careening down the Sacramento River with my pal Steve Wall.
I dream of the joy of 1976 a lot. Of the tall ships in New York Harbor. Of that fabulous party boat on the Sac River.
It's fading.
