Another meal this week consists of a lentil bolognese. It was a very interesting recipe I tried to follow. This was a yummy recipe but one that I probably would not cook again!

Gut health fact!! Orzo can support gut health when it’s made from whole wheat.
Whole-wheat orzo contains more dietary fiber, which feeds beneficial gut bacteria and helps support digestion and regularity. Refined (white) orzo has much less fiber, so it’s less beneficial for the microbiome.

Your gut is like a garden. 🌱

The bacteria are the plants.
Fiber is the fertilizer.
Water and sleep are the sunlight and rain.
Stress is like a drought.
Antibiotics are like pulling weeds — but sometimes you accidentally pull flowers too.

Here is my gut health fact of the week: Your digestive tract houses trillions of bacteria, fungi, and viruses, collectively called the gut microbiome. Many of these microbes help digest food, produce vitamins, and regulate your immune system.

Last night, I had a wonderful dinner. Creamy lima bean with zucchini orzo (subbed quinoa). It was a filling and flavorful meal! Another meal during the journey elevates my gut health.

This is an interesting fact I learned about gut health: Your gut contains more neurons than your spinal cord, earning it the nickname "the second brain" because it can control digestion entirely on its own.

My recipe for this week is a creamy walnut and basil spaghetti with peas! This was an extremely easy and yummy dish to make.

I am also on my own gut health journey, if there any recipes or recommendations please send them my way!

What should be my first meal?

Hi, I’m Elena, documenting my attempt to become someone who actually cooks. Trying new recipes, figuring out my kitchen style, and learning as I go, some wins, some fails.

Just building the habit and getting better one meal at a time. If you’re doing the same (or just watching), welcome
