given that the U.S. funds most of Albertan separatist accounts, Canada should respond in kind by funding Hawaiian sovereigntists 🌺

one of these is a just cause and it ain’t Alberta!

Yep… the South Water Street bike lanes in Providence. Now that Mayor Smiley lost the primary, is he going to expedite the “relocation” of the bike lanes so that his administration can take credit for restoring another lane for drivers?

This is the most-quintessential Brett Smiley story I have ever heard. Ideology aside, it's so satisfying that this guy ended up as the first incumbent mayor to lose a primary in the history of Providence.

This backlash, as much as insurgent left, is the story of Rhode Island's election last week.

I see the NYT is still platforming 'dei crushed white men' bullsh*t. Here it's buried in a 'why rural themed pop culture' is so popular in a piece written by a Princeton grad who lives in New York City.

Canada’s future should not be shaped through an invite-only gathering of the ultra-wealthy. It should be determined democratically by the people who live here, with the public good and long-term sustainability taking precedence over private profit.
Carney’s CEO summit could put public assets on the table
This September, a who’s who of global finance will descend on a luxury hotel in downtown Toronto for an invitation-only event, the first-ever Canada Investment Summit. As Bianca Mugyenyi writes, the s...

as @thetransitguy.com has pointed out a few times, Providence could be a good candidate for French-style light metros à la Lille or Rennes 🇫🇷🚇

I rode both, but only have photos of Rennes (plus, I think it’s a more apt comparison to PVD in terms of pop. and density)

If you want to be the managerial centrist technocrat mayor of a blue city -- and the anti-bike lane, anti-festival, anti-renter mayor (and that's what he became, fair or not) you need to be nailing basic city operations and selling that to the public. He was not.

If you want a sense of how out-of-touch the Providence Democratic City Committee is, the vote to endorse the losing candidate for mayor was like 71-9.

Four years after the RI DSA abandoned Democratic primaries, it looks like Reclaim-aligned candidates have taken the mayor's office and likely a majority(?) of the council.

A big win in Providence tonight! David Morales has unseated Mayor Brett Smiley (an AIPAC donor), who has spent his time in office cracking down on student protesters and pushing the IHRA definition of antisemitism to silence criticism of Israel.

Congratulations, David!
