Do ants eat feathers? I mean, protein, right? This crow feather was whole when I noted it by the entrance to an ants' nest on Monday. Today it seems half eaten, although it has barely moved since Monday. Could the ants have taken it apart and down into their nest?

Before: a good handful of tarragon leaves and the shining steel blade of a mezzaluna, a crescent shaped knife with a handle at each end. After: the same leaves, very finely chopped after just a couple of minutes.
