I’m so tired of the alt-right trying to turn every tragedy into some way to start pogroms against trans people. I can’t even mourn, I’m just stuck waiting to see how much higher the temperature is going to be turned up against us. 😔

Or would they find yet another layer of contention in the fact that the brain itself never developed in the body of a cis woman and therefore fails to reach that threshold? It’s a good hypothetical I’ve used before to filter out the noise regarding cis people.

Brain transplants are receiving funding and while we are nowhere near even close to performing a successful one, would transphobic people admit that a trans woman who implanted her brain into a cis woman’s body finally reach the threshold for them to consider her a “woman”?

This presents an epistemological problem I’ve been waiting to discuss for a while. Is there any hypothetical point in medical science we could reach that our opponents would finally concede? Or is this a moving target we can never hit until we can edit genetics and regrow entire bodies?

The fact that V’s entire Vendetta against a fascist government was inspired by a lesbian who was wrongfully executed by the state foreshadowing exactly this moment in history is both haunting and predictable. Fascism always creates the resistance that destroys it.
