Mobilizing Canadians to advocate for a publicly funded national #disability insurance plan for those with lifelong disabilities.
October 8, 2026 at 9:56 AM
Why wouldn’t everyone get behind a national disability insurance model of support when it’s good for the individual with a disability, their family, the economy, protects human rights and freedoms, and has Canada meet its obligations under the the UN CRPD.

It’s a no-brainer.

I’m curious to know which country you are in, as most of my posts are Canadian based. However, disabilities have no boundaries and similarities abound everywhere.

Labour Day, with a twist.

Today we honour people with disabilities who labour 24/7, 365 days a year against the systems and people that keep them isolated, poor and discriminated against.

That can be fixed with a National Disability Insurance Plan. #NDIP everycanadiancounts.com

It’s the pooling of funds that would make a National Disability Insurance Plan work. That’s how “insurance” works. So if you’re born with a disability, or acquire one later in life, you receive the funds to pay for that disability. By entitlement, non means tested and portable across the country.

73% of #OntEd teachers are planning to leave the profession.

Only 34% of these are due to retirement.

59% of teachers leaving say it’s due to the impacts of teaching on their mental health or feeling unsafe at school.

All disabled people/PWD should receive what they need for their disability, as an entitlement.

Abuse. Disabled people/PWD are in an abusive relationship with the provinces, and they can’t afford to leave. They depend on the suppressor for the few scraps they do receive.

There is a way out of this abusive relationship.

A reminder that a National Disability Insurance Program #NDIP would NOT be means tested, and be portable across the country. Marry who you want and move anywhere you want in Canada.
And so much more!

Are you okay? There isn’t anything sarcastic in there.
Love the serious note. Keep going with the funny stuff though.
I mean, will education solve every problem?

Well, maybe Henry’s being a little idealistic, sure.

But, in my own experience, the more educated I get, the better the choices I seem to make.

1/Paid Caregiving is an absolute must as one of the primary pillars of a National Disability Insurance Program (NDIP), but paid caregiving is far from the only cost.

Disabled? Family of a disabled person? Happy with the disability support you receive? No?
You need to get behind a National Disability Insurance Program. Where support would be based on actual need.

A National Disability Insurance Program #NDIP would support families that have a child born with a lifelong disability from birth to end of life. The child wouldn’t “age out” of services.
All costs associated with a disability would be included (entitlement based), non-means tested and portable.

I am just under 100$ to reaching my goal so I can get equipment to keep advocating for people with disabillities, homelessness, addiction, and more. Someone has kindly donated some tech and I just need to get a case and screen protector etc.
