We are back home from the greyhound festival in Kent and Abbi picked up some prizes in the fun dog show there. It was not crufts and all the judges were unashamedly fans of greyhounds but we had a lovely time and met so many nice people. Well done Abbi

Please remember food and water for UK hedgehogs during the heatwave. They are normally solitary but Last night 4 arrived at my daughter’s garden as soon as it got dark. She ended up with three in the feed station plus a poorly one to take to a rescue in the morning

The RAF fly Airbus A400 aircraft and there is a roll on roll off firefighting kit that any A400 can carry without modification. It can drop 20,000 litres of water or fire retardant. I have seen water drops from the A400 predecessor the C130 but that required compressed air. The new system does not

I am sorry to say that the big guy Brodie has gone over the rainbow bridge. He had a short but brutal illness that the vet hospital could only say was something auto immune and although they fought very hard to control it eventually it overwhelmed his system and we had to ask the vet to end it.

There is a debate at the moment in the UK about banning X because of AI fake pictures. I don’t think there is a need to ban it. Just encourage people to close their accounts. I have tried to persuade my wife to do this but she is scared she loses contact with lots of friends still on X

We visited a famous dog statue in Linlithgow today. Abbi is not quite a black bitch but she is very dark coloured and very proud of the loyalty of the original black bitch.

This was the last time Brodie and Abbi met Grandma Biscuits. She suffered a gastric bleed the following day and could not be saved. Brodie in particular lived for his visits to her (nothing to do with the biscuits she fed him) and he clearly misses them. How do you explain death to a dog?💔
