I've been using this screen name for decades.

The current political climate is NOT HELPING.
I'm in the middle of playing Talos Principle 2 so at first I thought not bad--robots seem cool, city has some power issues but seems like a nice place, no war or crime or anything. But absolutely no real food production bc all robots so I'd have to figure out how to be a farmer if I wanted to eat.
You're offered $250,000,000 but to claim it you must enter the last video game you've played and stay there for a full year.

How are y'all faring in this deal?

Watching Leavitt and Trump chuckle about the 20Billion dollar lawsuit and doxxing a reporter's home address, only to have the award recipients line up to shake his had is just so gross. I'm just assuming everyone who 'couldn't make it' came down with a case of self-respect.

Trump has always sucked, but I firmly believe 2016 Trump would be pretty disgusted by the juiceless whiner that is 2026 Trump.

This is just embarrassing.

The fireworks are insanely monotonous at this point and it looks like there's a lot of smoke.

...there's another half hour of this?

I thought I'd be able to survive Platner Discourse by being grateful I didn't have to navigate the shit decision it looks like people in Maine will be stuck with in November.

I am not prepared for the amount of trying to insist there was nothing wrong with his behavior going on right now.

Extended power outage led to me spending the day reading mysteries, and The Seven (and a Half, bc USA) Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was a complete and total trip of a time-loop whodunnit. Bummed that the Netflix adaptation was cancelled, but honestly cannot believe this book isn't a video game yet.

Finished Pragmata; I had a really good time. While the internet is Being Weird about it the game is really just wholesome. Very competently done, a plot that is EXACTLY what you expect at every step, likable characters, neat hacking mechanic. Add it to the pile of comfort food games.

So this Trump speech has Trump talking about this proving they 'need' the ballroom, and ends with Trump basically announcing a 'bigger and better' WHCA dinner coming in the next 30 days.

The association really just going to look like the admin's lackies at this point.
April 26, 2026 at 2:42 AM
This is entirely beside the point, but I hate so much the proliferation of 'POV: ' things that are not, in fact, POV. THIS ISN'T FROM THE SEA LION'S POV. THIS IS FROM THE POV OF A HUMAN LOOKING AT THE SEA LION. THIS IS AN 'IN THIS PICTURE: '
These big boys are driving up food costs for families by gorging on salmon. I’m doing something about it

I'm reading the New Yorker article on Sam Altman and... He's just Trump? He's probably less breathtakingly stupid overall, but he's broken in the exact same way Trump is broken and likely just as easy to manipulate? (from www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...)

In terms of food posting, the one thing I've learned in my 40s that I wish I knew in my 20s:

Rice cookers don't explode if you put more than rice in 'em. I am incredibly lazy and being able to make a passable take on gyudon or bibimbap in a single pot where I just push 'cook' is too much power.

So downside, he didn't announce the end of the war.

Upside, this wasn't a GOTCHA! SURPRISE! BOOTS ON THE GROUND! speech.

It, like so much of 2026 Trump, was just kind of stupid, weak, and full of lies.
April 2, 2026 at 1:23 AM
I'm not surprised it's happening but I am kind of surprised it's not being wrapped up in some big initiative as cover.
U.S. STATE DEPARTMENT IS USING FUNDS FOR INTERNATIONAL DISASTERS AND PEACEKEEPING TO GIVE $1.25 BILLION IN FOREIGN AID TO TRUMP’S BOARD OF PEACE - SEMAFOR.

The sad thing is that this is probably Trump's actual plan--Big military op, declare victory, the end. He's flat out not smart or informed enough to realize the situations are materially different, Israel doesn't want the same thing, and he's going to get a lot of people killed for his idiocy.
Bret Baier on a call he just had with Trump: "He said there is a plan. He points to Venezuela as a template."
March 2, 2026 at 3:33 PM
This is astonishing and as a bonus probably also pisses Stephen Miller off.

He's just sitting at SOTU with his face resting like this; this isn't a transitional face, this is just how he's looking. This is the vibe of the State of the Union:
February 25, 2026 at 3:38 AM
Current most exciting part of SOTU: Waiting to find out if the hockey boys get a seat, or if he literally made them wait outside so he could display them and then send them away.
February 25, 2026 at 2:27 AM
Is half of Trump's speech just

<pause for applause>

?

I swear 2016 him would be upset by how dull 2026 him is; he always sucked, but he used to get the occasional real laugh.

In the world After All This, Anthropic telling the DoD to eat shit now would be very forward-thinking. Now is a really good time for companies to start separating themselves from Trump and whoever does it first will stand out.

Wouldn't make me like Anthropic, but it would be amazing PR.
Sources: DoD told Anthropic it will invoke the Defense Production Act or label Anthropic a "supply chain risk", if not given unfettered Claude access by Friday (Axios)

now want a website that just covers social media drama as Trails political conflict
The fight is lost, man. If you unfollowed everyone on here who’s still active in Erebonia you’d have very few people left to follow. And Liberl has some responsibility for becoming such a hostile and unserious space that working Bracers have no particular reason to engage with it.

Beat Pathologic 3 today; excellent game and enough to get me interested in going back to Pathologic 2. Also pretty impressive how persistent some choices are through time travel--I spent a while trying to savehack the cursed street away and couldn't. Will need to do another run later to fix that.

Trump is going to be so mad about this when Fox News explains it to him.
wow -- with Trump standing behind him, a man (not sure who he is) offers this prayer: "We pray that he would be mindful of the poor and that he would be invested in the alleviation of suffering happening in the families preparing to bury their loved ones in Minneapolis."

Is someone trying to primary Rick Larsen? I live in his district and would maybe like it to not be his district any longer.
21 Republicans voted against the funding bill. If Democrats were a united block it would have failed and DHS would NOT have been funded.

But these 21 corporate Democrats, including my corrupt congressman @repbillfoster.bsky.social happily voted with the MAGA Trump agenda, and the vote passed.

Just watched a coworker try to mic-drop an internal style consistency debate (how to name some columns) by copy-pasting a 'quick Copilot check' defending his side.

I was just an observer, which is probably good because the extent to which I would have flipped out. Copilot doesn't know our system!

"For example, Iceland, without tariffs they wouldn't even be talking to us about it."

I... I think Trump just forgot he was trying to take over Greenland. He is ABSOLUTELY planning to rename it to Trumpland.
