I submitted my dissertation to the discipline council, and now I'm entirely at the mercy of the reviewers. My time as a student is officially over, and hopefully, my doctorate will follow in the coming months. I still can't believe I actually submitted it. #phdone

I sent an angry email to the university, and I already know I'm going to regret it. I get angry fast, but I'm also deeply afraid of conflict. It's a strange combination: hitting "send" feels easy, living with the aftermath is the hard part.

I have to finish my PhD thesis, but I can't stop thinking about my future postdoc project, as if I'm actually going to get the grants I want. But, as we say in Turkish, "Hope is the poor person's bread." And I'm poor.

Currently, I’m working on two papers: one gives me a stomachache because I genuinely think it’s very bad, while the other makes me feel on top of things. I'm only wishing for nice reviewers.🍀

I saw an academic job posting that requires C2-level Polish, and I’m pretty sure that if we had the faculty take a Polish test, the majority wouldn’t pass at the C2 level, not because they are bad but because it is difficult even for native speakers.

I want the writing muscle established academics have—not because I need to publish, but because I want to.
Academic culture can be toxic, but I’ve worked in corporate, and if you can land a job, it’s not worse than that. Big if.
Now let’s see if I’ll be able to make it.

He's been at nursery part-time for 3 months now. I've finished one chapter and I'm halfway through the second. He's thriving and so happy with his playtime. Total win-win 🖤
My baby will start nursery next month, just for a couple of hours so I can get back to writing my thesis. When I do have time, like now after he sleeps, I want to read and watch things, but my brain won’t let me since they’re not related to my PhD work. So I do nothing.

My baby will start nursery next month, just for a couple of hours so I can get back to writing my thesis. When I do have time, like now after he sleeps, I want to read and watch things, but my brain won’t let me since they’re not related to my PhD work. So I do nothing.

I read that an external reviewer of a PhD written in Poland complained the thesis was “shorter” than what she’s used to in her country—implying it’s superior there. The length? Some people really lose perspective when given “power.”

I’m extremely curious about DJ Ahmet, but reading the filmmaker himself call a completely different language a ‘local dialect’ is disappointing.
