UC Berkeley’s @innovativegenomics (IGI) recently co-authored a report announcing a new CRISPR approach shown to selectively destroy cancer cells.Inspired by a paper from the Doudna Lab on using CRISPR to shred repetitive sequences in brain tumors, first author and postdoctoral researcher Jingkun Zeng thought there might be an alternative to reactivating broken tumor suppressors: finding cells with cancer-specific mutations and eliminating them entirely.“People generally, and especially in the gene editing field, want to fix genes or knock out genes,” says Zeng. “But what I wanted to do here is completely different. I wanted to destroy abnormal cells, precisely and safely.”“Not only can this approach target the ‘undruggable’ cancers that we know, we can also easily and quickly adapt this to new mutations,” says IGI Founder Jennifer Doudna, a co-author on the paper. “This is an exciting development for cancer therapies, and potentially for other applications as well.”🔗 Full story at the link in our bio: https://bit.ly/4e2x5aQ#UCBerkeley #CRISPR #CancerResearch

Please educate me. What are the benefits to a local area of a data center? The temporary construction jobs (likely not locally hired) and the meager full time staff. Taxes? Most centers paying no taxes for at least 10 years. By that time the center may be obsolete

As of May 27, the employee tells Chase that they only have $13,000 in reservations for that month.

I actually saw my Elders fired from jobs, humiliated, beaten, bombed, murdered, lynched and assassinated for the right to vote. I have a debt to pay. I repay that debt every Election Day when I vote for the candidate of my choice.

Rep. Massie and I just introduced a bipartisan amendment to strip the pesticide liability shield from the Farm Bill.

If a company’s product makes people sick, it should be held accountable. If states and communities want to create stronger protections, they should have every right to do so.

Virginia actually voted in favor of redistricting to counterbalance what Texas and other Republican-controlled states have done.

Yet only one is considered a "power grab."
