I can take or leave Marmite.
I hate to sound confrontational, but I don't think those pricks' concerns are actually legitimate.

Saw the Odyssey. Was left a bit flat. It's okay, but they cut Nono out of it.

In terms of intranominal tmesis, "Jesus *Fucking* Christ" is hard to beat in terms of pure invective.

In other news, we have a new secretary of state for defence.
July 23, 2026 at 6:11 PM
Okay. Only one football post and it's a general observation: since neither attacking nor defending is perfect, but only one side gets to do each of those at one time, and the consequences of fucking up are not symmetrical, I don't think it ever makes any sense to not keep attacking.

Where are the hundreds of QT appearances that @countbinface.bsky.social is owed?

According to Arsene Wenger in a clickbait headline, "only one team can stop France from winning the World Cup."

Well, duh, obviously: that's exactly how knockout tournaments work.

How do you explain VCRs to modern kids? "They were like a streaming service but they had skippable ads."

"Labour must be bolder or it will lose," says the man who won't trigger the leadership contest he so desperately craves.

Zoning in late, but it's a travesty that "the 100 best novels of all time" doesn't include the novelisation of Hawk the Slayer.

I initially misread this as "Pam Ayres" and it shook my world to its foundations.

Watched: Dracula (should be: Dreckula): a love tale. It has a colon in the title, which is all you need to know.

Having said that, if the Muppets made a musical version I'd watch the shit out of it.

One of the things most striking about Mick Lynch is that he knows what he believes and articulates it well. Listening to him talk feels noticeably less stressful than listening to someone repeating what they're pretending to believe.
Mick Lynch: Farage didn't build a political career, he built a bonfire out of migrant families and called it leadership. #UKPolitics

Robin Ince just delivered a lesson in integrity for Christmas. What a lovely human being.

R4 just now: "this decision will cause untold worry and should certainly be reexamined by the courts."

The irony is fucking staggering; and the spin on the tribunal conclusions was appalling.
December 9, 2025 at 9:06 AM
It's appalling that "don't be an arsehole" is a newsworthy stance.

On feeding AI:

"Mr Pichai said action was needed, including in the UK, to develop new sources of energy and scale up energy infrastructure."

We should probably earmark some of Google's corporate tax take to fund that, then.

I can't remember a time in my life when the English flag hasn't been an icon for the NF, the BNP, or whatever current rebrand the racist hooligans are organising under. It's bullying, not patriotism.
Here's my argument with Sir Bernard Jenkin MP about the report showing how the racist intimidation of Black and Brown NHS workers on home visits has been exacerbated by the far right's wall of flags.

I call myself a mathematician but my better half had to explain the geometry in Alt-J's "Tessellate".

I did get the TGTBATU reference FWIW.
September 11, 2025 at 7:58 PM
When I was growing up, the flag was a symbol of the NF: nasty, stupid, brutish thugs. Then for a brief, glorious moment, it was associated with the Spice Girls. Now it's just back with the twats. How fucking depressing.

Presumably "Pleistocene Action" is next, etc. etc.

Oh no, no adult content or direct messaging.

Okay, so we have an infantalising and authoritarian government; but honestly in this case it seems like no loss.

Trying to work out if this is more or less reprehensible than shouting "nonsense" at Jack Straw.

There aren't enough quotes in the internet to sufficiently surround "justified". What an abysmal* way to bully people for nonconformity.

(* "Abysmal" here is a value judgement. If you're *actually* a bully then what the EHRC reckons seems hugely effective.)
This is going to be an absolute car crash, the Supreme Court verdict looks more absurd by the day

I see a photo of "Christian Concern" protesters standing by a sign that reads "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".

I'm not a fan of legislating by aphorism; however I'm willing to admit that the intentions of these people may be good.
