said script could also have stolen cookies, fingerprinted browsers, waited for the "SEND ALERT" popup to piggyback on the geolocation API request, etc.

I haven't look into this specific situation, but I think it is a mistake to dismiss XSS as probably not leaking user data. It is possible it collected user data for a good period before the apparition of the scary message. It can also have been used to stole admin credential.

(Je ne me suis pas informé sur les détails précis du projet pour me prononcer pour ou contre. Je suis assez favorable à l'idée d'interdire l'usage de cellulaire pendant les cours. Mais je comprend aussi que le cellulaire est "essentiel" au tissu social moderne)

Je pense que réduire le cellulaire à un outil du capitalisme n'est pas approprié pour évaluer cette situation. C'est l'objectif des fabriquants et des apps, mais l'objectif des utilisateurs c'est de communiquer et de former des communautés.
