A very important follow up on our announcement. Please share your thoughts in the comments of the post or the blog itself!

We'll be exploring this in our workshop at IOSP 2026 too. 🧪

$3.89/gal for gas in Indiana?!

That's too cheap!

Why?

Because the Republican governor Indiana suspended the gas tax again, meaning car culture is not paying it's fair share and the tax payers at large are subsidizing their driving habits.

Sounds like socialism to me. 😂

Our school doesn't just have a #bikebus, there's also a run club that meets, trains and runs to school together (another weekday).

The parent organizer asked for a volunteer to drive all the kids backpacks to school. My husband said why drive when you could cargo bike?! 25 bags delivered this week.

Right to repair is an important subject to me.

I believe that simple and serviceable designs are a valuable ebike ownership trait.

Motors like the BBSHD require few specialized tools and most you probably already have in your tool box.

Transportation independence starts on the work bench.

Ban Right Turn on Red. Tesla driver stops on railroad tracks making an extremely dangerous right on red with no line of sight to traffic or pedestrians coming from his left.

Answer that question honestly, and adjust your outrage accordingly" 🎤🫳

Opinion: Cars are the biggest threat on the road, not kids on e-scooters
All the outrage we feel about teens weaving on e-bikes and scooters would be better spent figuring out how to keep massive motorized vehicles away from all other road users

I dream of the day that sidewalks stop being used as the dumping ground for city infrastructure.

PUT THEM IN THE FUCKING STREET AND CALL THEM TRAFFIC CALMING or something damn
Seriously? We can't just move them off the sidewalk?

"carwalking" has been added to the Urbanism+ feed.

"Carwalking is the act of stepping onto and walking across a stationary car...a response to cars being parked illegally in areas exclusively allocated to pedestrians and a protest against the negative impacts of high motorization rates..."

Yeah and this is why we need to be careful when advocating for the car-free life because for many what we're asking them to do is decrease their quality of life.

Car-free in many ways their lives can improve but that's harder to understand. I aim for just convincing folks to not drive when possible
Nobody disputes that having access to a car in a car-dominated society is good. It gives one access to jobs, healthcare, food, education, social opportunities and more. All we're asking is for people to go one step deeper and ask why access to such basic rights requires buying and operating a car.
I grew up in Jackson Heights in Queens and we still had a car, and our lives got measurably better when we did.
