It's utterly pointless. As is the chats with managers at half time.

Really, really awful

JE did well last year. And I think he needs time for team to understand his ideas so

But there just seems to be no plan and it all seems half hearted

Langäs is a shadow of his former self sadly

Hope it works out.

He's contracted until 2028 and so maybe we keep loaning rather than selling due to not wanting to make a loss relative to amortised book value. He didn't cost that much but maybe we need every bit of headroom possible

Must be difficult for him

Didn't actually think West Ham were great. They didn't have to be though
September 5, 2026 at 5:21 PM
Zetts, Ozoh and Sanderson were good.

Nyambe ok.

Langäs seems almost sluggish. Starting to worry he's not the same player post injury (would drop for cashin when Cashin fit)

Salvesen seemed more of a threat than Meister but Meister had zero service so took early to judge

Fuseini quick

I think we need 2 wingers, another CM and a centre back

That feels quite a lot to get in in 48 hours

Feels a big loan fee. That said, I'd rather not commit to a big transfer fee without seeing him over a season as his scoring record not super great.

Looks like he may have potential and if he develops very well it will seem like astute business

I'm not buying it. We bought half his old Blackburn team and then a bunch of development signings which with the possible exception of Johnston have been reasonable (Johnston may come good). He's clearly being supported.

I've no problem with the recruitment team or what Pearce has done under Clowes

Also, he is part of the club. Not exogenous to it.
August 29, 2026 at 4:44 PM
I thought his continued digs at the club were poor actually. Should make those comments behind closed doors.

Recruitment is clearly an issue but the takeover constrained them.

I also thought the players lacked coordination and cohesion and organisation and any plan. That's on him too
August 29, 2026 at 4:43 PM
I think it's a bit off that the club leaked the rehab thing. Presumably he got the injury on our watch and we offered this to him. Feels like sour grapes to leak that

There may be all sorts of personal reasons dictating his choice we are unaware of.

Disappointed but I wish him the very best.

Interesting article. I agree with thrust of it; IE. It doesn't matter at all if the best players in the world don't play in the premier League. Football is a team game and people want to see a genuinely competitive league.

I'd rather watch championship than Ligue 1 or Bundesliga

I thought he was injured
July 13, 2026 at 4:59 PM
He's not even next in line. Ben White is. TAA doesn't give Tuchel want he wants in terms of defensive stability

I use this for manipulating very large pgns from Lichess (converting to scidv format first). And once I've filtered and trimmed, I re-export as a pgn and then import to HCE as that has nicer tools to comment on the games

I use Google Gemini instead of Claude to help me create tools

Ah, I don't work with so many databases. I have recently started also using the new scid 5.2 (not scidvspc which is different). It has a new native database format which handles very large pgn files better than chessbase or HCE. Very quick

Scid
Download Scid for free. Scid is a chess database application (cross-platform, for Unix/Linux and Windows) with many search and database maintenance features.

I notice you are using chessbase again rather than hiarcs chess explorer pro. Any reason for that? Any advantages?

I like Lichess a lot but I'm really unsure what value the app gives over the mobile site though (which is superb).

I'd personally prefer development to be focused on the site rather than creating / maintaining an app which duplicates the site

Fascinating. I can't imagine chess.com will be too pleased with Magnus. Sounds like he's abiding by letter of his commercial agreement by not personally promoting it. Wonder when that expires...
