Eh, you can probably guess.
TIL that the French set up a separate and unequal high school for poor immigrant kids in Seine-St.-Denis and named it Rosa Parks. Has there ever been a better emblem of the French tendency to point at American racism while ignoring their own?

It’s hard to understand what the next phase of my career should look like when the big trends out there are austerity and ‘AI’ hype.

What is the equivalent, for a UNIX-at-scale nerd, to shorting nVidia? Can I profitably teach organizations how to recover from their encounters with “AI” footguns?

Once again, I gotta say: you cannot treat anything you’re feeding into an AI as anonymous. There are enormous ethics implications for, e.g. referees who are clearly uploading others’ unpublished papers without consent, let alone health care professionals or law enforcement
Four days ago, a scientist was surprised by the news that Anthropic discovered new virus genes for making DNA. He says he’s been studying them for years—and feeding his data to Anthropic’s AI as part of his own research. Coincidence? Here’s my story. nyti.ms/3VSWayc
Did Anthropic’s A.I. Really Make a Scientific Discovery on Its Own? (Gift Article)
An expert at the University of Copenhagen said his team had been sharing its research with the company’s A.I. model, Claude, and that its new finding matched their work.

@moiradonegan.bsky.social Shitty Media Men, Silicon Valley edition.
A hidden list of 100 abusers in Silicon Valley.

Left unstated: some are abusing *men*

Sam Altman used to date Peter Thiel, known for recruiting young men for sex (one died of suicide).

Sam's sex parties are notorious for how hard they go, and the abuse. Three sources told me about this:
Silicon Valley ‘sex assault list’ with ‘over 100 ‘ names circulated, warning female tech workers of predators to avoid
“Some of them were very prominent names, you know? People who were famous investors. Businessmen who were in the scene”

Using my passport for the first time in a long time. I’m going to a place with an actively enforced lèse-majesté law yet I’m looking forward to breathing free air. What a time to be alive in the US.
