Back at it again with the Lodev DDA (lodev.org/cgtutor/rayc...) ray casting experiments. This is running in Real Mode x86-16, with VGA using the tweaked 320x100 mode for double buffering. With just the minimal interface code for testing, the current EXE is about under 4KB. (Open Watcom C/C++ 1.9)

This is amazing! SimCopter had a great soundtrack by Jerry Martin but the game’s files were highly compressed. So LucasVB got in touch with Mr. Martin and he was able to find most of the original high quality tracks! Awesome to hear “Hangar” in such clarity after 30 years archive.org/details/SimC...

An X-Men game was intended for release for the SEGA 32X, but was cancelled. New footage of this game emerged from our E3 1995 archives showing Wolverine... well, wander around aimlessly for a bit. https://archive.gamehistory.org/item/92b1039b-bed4-4454-a312-d25bc6b88958

"So, you’re an anime/manga store?"
"Yes, well... we don't sell manga anymore."
"Okay, but you can buy anime Blu-rays, right?"
"Yes... although you will need a subscription to buy them."
"Oh, so, you pay a subscription and then you get the Blu-rays without additional payments?"
"Well...no...uh..."

Returning to Allegro 4 on DOS.
I now have a 386DX 25 to test on as a lowest-spec target machine. (It's on a Full AT Intel server board from ~1991.)

This article is the closest thing we'll ever get to understanding how the total enigma of a GBA game Urban Yeti exists, a bad game I can't help but love. Delightful and well researched read about a niche corner of video game history
'Urban Yeti!' released on this day in 2002.

What do you get when you combine a mock cult, Dolemite, surfboarding, and multiple failed distribution deals? Why, a GBA cartridge about cryptids, obviously! Check out our article for the full story: badgamehalloffame.com/urban-yeti/

So if I’m getting this right…
You need a subscription to access the physical goods store where everything is more expensive then it is elsewhere (that isn’t exclusive to said store… that you won’t know is on said store without a subscription)

Sony what are you doing!?
Crunchyroll announced they are changing the Crunchyroll Store

• In August, you will need to be a Mega or Ultimate Fan to access the CR Store

• The new experience will feature curated drops and Crunchyroll‑exclusive merch

• Select Items will be 50% off starting tomorrow

Even after all these years I still find the fact that something like *this* was on the official soundtrack of a version of "Sid Meier's Pirates!" incredibly amusing. Only in the early 90s.

Having one of our games get a physical release on PlayStation was one of our proudest accomplishments.

We hope this isn’t the end for physical games. Collecting has always been a big passion of ours.

Thank you again to Limited Run Games, for the opportunity of a lifetime!

Still can't get over the fact that @playstation.com announced an end to physical media in the same post they announced the closure of their digital store for older platforms.

Literally justifying the worries people have about a digital-only future within the same post.

Disc Rot?

I run an online game/CD shop. More than 10,000 discs CD/DVD/LD/BD have passed through me. I test each one.

I find scratched discs for sure. And moldy discs in cases that also have moldy manuals.

But a pristine case with a “rotted” disc?

Twice. 2 times in the 15 years I have sold games.

Going to write a very rudimentary card-stack system with pictures/things that hyperlink to other slides, will see if I can turn it into a single-header #C library for just the interface portion. #gamedev

GotchaGotchaGames dropped today that they're shutting down the official rpgmaker forums next week, and taking down access entirely come December...

Final Profit wouldn't exist without these forums, there's so much knowledge about to be lost. I'm mortified.
