Examples of Trump’s economic illiteracy keep getting worse. The guy isn’t even pretending to understand the basics of:
- trade
- interest rates
- job growth
- the bond market

On jobs, trade and interest rates, Trump trips over his economic illiteracy (again)
The president, in a rather literal sense, just doesn’t know what he’s talking about when it comes to economic policies he ought to understand.

As a former trade official, I feel comfortable in saying that there has never been a president who was more clueless about trade and how it works than Trump. Maybe no official in our history. (Except possibly Peter Navarro.)
It would be nice if someone could explain this community note to him. Having a president with a basic understanding of how trade works doesn’t seem like a ton to ask.

Meanwhile our farmers are getting crushed.
