I don't plan on watching the new Mario in theaters, but I did rewatch the first with friends yesterday. (It's still just an ok 90 minute distraction.)

I desperately (still) want the movie version of Foreman Spike to be introduced in Mario games. General Blue Shell is also a great concept to be left just in the movie universe, imo.

Mario Kart World is already a very different (and better) game from when it launched.
The free updates have mostly all hit the mark.
I think that was important before Nintendo rolls out new characters/stages, which I think is going to happen, it just won't be free.

A boat in New Super Mario Bros. Wii is called "NICE_BOAT" internally. While the developers may have simply believed it to be a particularly nice boat, there is reason to assume this is a reference to the "Nice Boat" broadcast incident where an anime episode was cancelled due to a murder.

In World 6-6 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, a boat with a tilt-controlled spotlight appears. Internally, this object is called "NICE_BOAT". While this may simply mean the programmers thought it was a particularly nice boat, there is reason to assume it is related to the September 2007 "Nice Boat" broadcast incident.

The "Nice Boat" incident
In 2007, the anime School Days was aired in Japan. The day before the final episode, which would have featured a girl committing a violent murder, a similar murder took place in real life (16-year-old girl murdered her father with an axe in Kyoto). The episode was cancelled and stock footage was played for 30 minutes in its place, featuring a boat.
The boat, alongside a comment on an imageboard calling it a "nice boat", became a meme in Japan after the incident. Due to NSMBW releasing in 2009, it would have been in development at the time and it stands to reason that the developers could have been referencing the meme.

There's something of an event going on where you can earn NSO icons by playing Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Advance. Feels intentional, perhaps Nintendo might bring the Super Mario Bros. 2 cast back to prominence.
Still wish they'd get around to using Foreman Spike more, though.

Starting to get a little impatient here, when's Nintendo going to put me back in the games?!
I'm not expecting much different this time around, lol. The most that I'm hoping for is that Wart has enough time on the screen, however limited it is, to impress fans enough that they want to see more of him.

Reminds me of how Sebastian Maniscalco went into a Nintendo store in order to get Foreman Spike merch for his kids, only to find that there weren't any.
