Busy PBOT: (Sept. 2, 2026) The Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) will begin repaving NE 122nd Avenue from NE Glisan Street to NE Holladay starting tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 3 and continuing through Sept. 22. Crews will begin by grinding away the top layer of damaged pavement, which is work that can be done in rainy weather. As weather improves, crews will shift back to complete paving work on NE Glisan Street between 82nd and 92nd avenues, which requires dry weather to be completed, before resuming work on NE 122nd Avenue. In total, PBOT paving crews will repave 1.68 lane miles on NE 122nd Avenue. Crews will work from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on NE 122nd Avenue between NE Glisan and Holladay streets. Additional paving work on 122nd Avenue is planned for Holladay to Halsey streets and Halsey to Broadway. These segments will be scheduled after the initial segment is completed. #PBOT #Portland #PDX #transportation

Before the democratisation of translation, it was particularly hard to perceive what was going on on the ground wrt digital activism in some countries -- I'd say Japan and Italy were two I found most challenging. My husband has discovered PDX bike culture. Yesterday he went on a ride that ended at a festival for brass marching bands. Today he is on a ride to look for especially nice cats. There are cats marked on the map who look forward to the event.

Another person sits at a desk on the left side of the frame. "There are too many companies to list that use tools to scrape the internet for pictures and videos to create a database. This could also include your own home surveillance if it is not properly secured. Companies like Clearview AI have contracts with the US government and use these databases as their source when searching for their "suspect" to then target and track people from things like LIVESTREAMS, as well as other accessible surveillance.It's extremely important to note that not all security system's data are stored for prolonged periods and/or are cloud based storage. A warrant must be secured for that data if the owner of the cameras does not voluntarily consent. This obviously does not apply for content creators who are keeping a running archive freely available to the public.While the original intent was to further develop facial recognition, these same tools are now scraping sites like YouTube in order to advance gait tracking technology. It's not only meant to identify you by the way you move and walk, it's meant to advance to tracking you in real-time through multiple platforms. There's even open source models that your friends and enemies can freely use. CURRENT CLIMATE OF SURVEILLANCE(CONTINUED)Several states and counties have existing laws or are currently legislating laws regarding the use and sale of biometric data, although some states lack the specific verbiage to categorize gait tracking as a violation. New York appears to be active in this area; looking there may provide information on how some jurisdictions are addressing these concerns. Erie County in New York has specifically listed gait tracking as a biometric data point.The reality of the situation involves complex government interests, and data collection often continues—especially when large amounts of information are provided voluntarily via social media. Even if certain data cannot be used directly in a legal case due to current regulations, authorities may still utilize various tools to uncover other evidence that can be used. WHAT IS GAIT RECOGNIION?Gait recognition is a biometric science used to identify animals (this includes you) by the way they move. Gait analysis is usually combined with other biometrics, like your facial structure, height, and body type.Excerpt from the Biometrics Institute:Every human has a specific way of walking and running. Factors such as the subject’s overall physique, stride length and width, speed of movement, the various angles formed by the joints at the hip, knee and ankle as well as the angles of the torso, thighs and feet can be captured on cameras for analysis. Therefore, individuals can be identified by their style of gait and this allows both biometric one-to-one (1:1) verification and one-to-many (1:N) identification (search capability) to be used in addition to other uses such as medical research and diagnostic testing, sports science etc.That strategically placed “etc” includes things like state surveillance.

OPEN BED TRUCK. There is a source in Canby that has perpetually available mushroom blocks. You can take as many as you like and we’ll distribute the rest once in our garden. KITCHEN SCRAPS. If you need a place to put your compost, we have established a compost bin in the NE corner of the garden. Please: egg shells, coffee, chopped up food scraps. No thanks: yard scraps, grass clippings, carnivore droppings, animal remains. BLACK RASPBERRY STARTS. Native to the east coast, these berries are plentiful and easy to grow. We have 5 pots currently fostering in the garden, free to take. TOMATOES TO HARVEST. The season has just begun, but we will need all the help we can get eating tomatoes.
