Well that was faster than expected. Welcome back, block search.

Holy crap. The original HomePod actually supports HomeOS 27. After the beta program ended support for it, I didn’t expect it to get the update.

I'm starting to find some workarounds for some things. Good to hear block search is on the way. The two other things I'd say are layovers are less obvious now, and I'm not seeing the Block Schedule for the current trip reflect realtime.

Looks like smoke is back in Portland. I was wondering why the indoor sensors were in the 40s.

Time to turn the purifier back on.

Public transport data can have some wild numbers at times. July had the best Average Weekend Ridership on @portlandstreetcar.org on the NS-Line since January 2024 and the second highest overall Monthly Ridership in the last 24 months (best monthly ridership this year too).

Maybe it's just me, but I swear beta 6 of Golden Gate changed the tint on the window control buttons. They feel a lot more Aqua-like again.

Today’s the day. “Big Walk” is here, and it’s free with PlayStation Plus or a very reasonable $20.

The Tilikum Crossing closes in one week for maintenance. Do you know your altered route yet?

Some people have old cable drawers.
I have old file folders.
(Or that time I was in a SEPTA commercial and somehow still have a copy of it.)

Say hello to macOS 73.

I see @hidive.com is keeping up with tradition where instead of sending a renewal notice, they’re sending a “we’re increasing your subscription price” again.

$80 is really kind of pushing it for HIDIVE.

Whelp. It was nice knowing you, Roku.

Sure glad I moved to Apple TV long ago now.

Sometimes I swear E33 is designed to be played only on an OLED display. The lighting effects make it borderline unplayable on an LCD, but if you turn off all the extra junk in Photo Mode, it’s just an absolutely gorgeous game.

This does look like it might be the year Apple legitimately fixes the keyboard and dictation. Bonus welcome surprise: WAY easier copy and paste between apps. #WWDC26

You will have one last macOS release to use Rosetta.
Guess it's time to look for a new scanner (still have a Canon MP560 from ages ago). #WWDC26

The delays each year definitely suck, but always prefer getting to put up a planned disruption over unplanned one to Friends of Streetcar.

macOS 27 wishlist: Folders for apps in Dock. I've always grouped icons together, but my Dock is kind of long now. We've had Stacks for folders since Snow Leopard (and yes, I still have the welcome PDF in my Downloads Stack.)

Apple will soon end support for Intel-based apps.

I need to remember to get a better photo this year, but this is always my favorite banner to put up on the Friends of Portland Streetcar site. Rides are free tonight after 5pm: portlandstreetcar.org/news/2026-01...

If you do tap a Hop card today, you’ll get a little easter egg in your history this year (and yes, they finally fixed Streetcar to not accept fare either.)
February 5, 2026 at 3:47 AM
Well no wonder there are a lot of new no unauthorized parking signs around Portland lately. Retriever was a favorite of private lots for years.
February 3, 2026 at 1:26 AM
Oooof. Crunchyroll will now *start* at $100 a year.

The experience with Logic Pro is pretty similar. You'll also need to redownload any instruments too. Your milage with third-party plugins may vary.

No, you cannot run both versions of Final Cut Pro at the same time. Creator Studio Edition will import any settings from the standalone, but it does not automatically open an existing library. It will NOT replace the standalone version and downloads resources separately.
