My point here is that there are certain things on which you CANNOT compromise.

Doing some thinking today about eugenics and fascism as responses to, not just causes of, mass death. Some people cope with unprocessable communal grief and horror by rationalizing unbearable mass death as necessary or desirable, and bury the horror so deep they lose compassion entirely.
