Not from me: from my homework as I craft my message. I think Bobby Kennedy said it beautifully in his speech of April 5th 1968, the day after Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed in Memphis.

While the situatin is more complex than the simple numbers, I don't know ANYONE paying rates this low, let alone in the negative range. There's nothing wrong with trying to become wealthy, but everyone should shoulder their fair share of the load!

A nation's greatness depends not only on its power but on its commitment to the arts and sciences, and that the historian and the poet are as essential to a republic as the soldier and the statesman We must act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with God: the ethos of the Good Samaritan.

We didn't get here by being afraid ... of anything. Not of one another, not because we worried that we couldn't solve poverty, not of the press, not even of death, when Virgil "Gus" Grissom, Edward White, and Roger Chafffee, who died January 27th, 1967, in the Apollo 1 fire.

The awful tragedy of 9/11 reminds us that our work, the articulation and maintenance of these ideas, will never truly be complete, but we can and should celebrate every bit of progress we make in doing it. fredfrancis2028.com/thinking-aloud

Assume everything negative about the Press is true, what then? The only solution is to be forthright and have the courage of your convictions: state the facts as you see them. Don't hide, politicians, be courageous. We the People are not stupid, we just need facts to make good decisions

Getting all worked up about people "leaking" info about our munitions being drawn down makes public discussion focus on the cover up, instead of the bipartisan issue we need to rebuild our supply. If we want the press to do a better job, politicians need to find their backbones.

In a democracy, public debate is essential. If we actually want to solve problems it makes no sense to deliberately offend people we disagree with. We need to focus on bringing out the facts, and on deciding what compromise we're willing to strike to address them.

Justice delayed is justice denied; that principle is as old as the Magna Carta. But the Epstein case adds a corollary: justice denied to some is justice denied, and a future threat, to all. The promise of equal protection under law is either true for everyone or it is true for no one.

As I say on the website, what I aim to do is focus on the pragmatic: I figure those things we have them in common have the best chance to succeed, so every politician goes home a hero, knowing they did something in service of their fellow Americans. Not perfectionism. Progress.

As I see it, government should be a tool for helping people. Too often, it is used to dominate the very people it was designed to serve. It should be transparent, responsive, and communicate clearly. Everyone: rich or poor, left or right, has a right to air their grievances, and be heard.
