This is from a promo I created for a local showing of my short film "Staring Contest." These were black-and-white printed still frames from the cartoon, which were then hand-colored with oil pastels a la George Méliès.

The most I've been able to make lately were a few stop-motion clips utilizing paper cutouts specifically for a couple class projects. They don't make any sense outside of that context, but they're cool to look at at least

Recently, I re-recorded the soundtrack for my short film "Staring Contest" for a local gallery exhibition. I did this all in GarageBand, and it was my first time using it. I have very little formal musical training, but this is probably the closest I've gotten to creating a decent-sounding tune

I rarely animate stuff on paper, but I decided to animate this run cycle straight ahead on a whim. Extremely imperfect but fun! I used a grease pencil to draw this. They're a bit tough to use but I really love the thick, violent outlines.

Also some pictures I took as I was making it. I don't have the space right now to keep all the drawings and paintings, especially if I want to keep doing mixed media stuff, so I might consider selling a handful away for cheap to whoever wants one.

Sneak peek of a very short cartoon I'm working on. I'm likely going to have to rush through the rest of it so it might not look this good, but at least I have this shot to be semi-proud of! I animated it digitally, then traced the frames onto watercolor paper and then painted each frame.

Sorry I'm not on here a lot! Here's this study I did a couple weeks back based on a Pinterest photo. I probably should have used something other than a grease pencil bit oh well

Some character design sketches and drawings. I feel like my character here is starting to look a lot more detailed and unique - except...maybe not because the Rumiko Takahashi influence is EXTREMELY apparent, but I'm getting closer to figuring him out.

Some quick paintings. I don't paint a whole lot, it's pretty easy to tell. I'd like to get better at this eventually. The latter is a concept drawing from an animation test currently in the works.

A quick, spontaneous and fully straight-ahead animation test I did about a month ago. I wanted to try out a more limited style, heavily inspired by '70's gag anime. (Particularly by the studio "A-Pro", predecessor to Shin-Ei, which did The Gutsy Frog and certain episodes of Lupin III Part I)

I found a pretty cheap copy of George Bridgman's "Constructive Anatomy" during a recent Barnes and Noble buying spree, and I've just been going hog-wild doing these studies.
.....GOD this stuff is so, so hard, but I do kinda like doing them despite everything.

Also this one's mainly just an easter egg for those in the know, but peep the little Koji Nanke UY OP reference there. Koji Nanke is one of my favorite animators period. A masterclass animator, designer, and mixed-media artist, his work heavily inspires me.
