I make stuff. I watch stuff.
Mostly just shouting into the void.
Finally planted my chilli seeds today.

Made the mistake of licking my fingers an hour later.

If this burn is coming from handling dried seeds then I can’t wait for fruit!

(I’m blaming the habanero, because there was a little bit of extra membrane, but maybe there’s a hint of reaper too)

I seem to be running about 3 weeks behind in life at the moment, which means I should get to last week’s important duties at the end of next week.

The algorithms showed me an ad for a bluetooth cassette player.

If it wasn’t as expensive (and if I owned more cassettes) I’d actually really want one.

On the train to do the City to Surf this morning, just like 90% of the rest of the passengers.

Having low level legged it to get on this train, it’s going to be a long 12km because any plans to jog the downhills/flats are out the window. Turns out both my wrist and shoulder don’t like it.

Finally got around to cancelling a recurring payment today which means a few extra $ in my bank account.

Honestly it’s realistically an amount I should put towards the fact that my bills have all gone up since I last did my spreadsheet, but I’m just trying to convince myself not to spend it on fun.

I had a sheep for a few days!

It belongs to the good neighbours, and just hung out eating grass until we found a way to catch it using 4 of us and a big net.

Now we’re talking about the possibility of all of the sheep visiting if they go away over Christmas.

New exercise from the OT today. Its called a slosh pipe and its a capped pvc pipe half full of water.

I have a range of positions to hold it in and try and balance it horizontally, both one and two handed.

Sounds simple, but its currently very very difficult.

Making public transport friends with a guy who sounds pretty certain he’s able to call the prime minister to get the police fired.

I’m pretty certain his reality only barely crosses paths with mine.

But we had a pretty good conversation about apples and the fenced off space near the bus stop.

At my regular noodle place and I let the lady at the counter talk me into the mild level of spiciness for my stir fry noodles.

Turns out mild means hot enough to make my nose run continuously.

I can’t tell you the last time I could comfortably scratch my right ear. Definitely not this year, I’m guessing not since surgery last October.

At best I could tilt my head to the side as far as possible and barely reach my ear with fingertips.

On new nerve pain meds (up to option 3 after extreme side effects on the first 2). I was warned these will make me drowsy.

I have slept for 11 hours each night I’ve taken them.

If I have somewhere to be in the morning, do I maths backwards to take tonight’s dose?

It feels weird having a bonfire on my own, because I have come to think of it as a communal activity even if its just one other person around.

But I committed to cooking osso bucco this weekend and the fire is a more fun place to do it.

I put on my adult pants and texted the neighbour because I stepped in dog poo for the 4th time in a week and I don’t have a dog.

They wanted to put up a real fence 18 months ago & then there was crickets when I sent them a quote. This new patch-up fix is 8% of that so I’m hoping they’ll go for it.

First fire of the season last night with a couple of friends.

I also discovered that hot honey isn’t just the new salted caramel/biscoff/pistachio fad I thought it was, and it’s actually quite good. Especially on carrots. I have some spare jars of honey so I might have to make some of my own.

How much character building does one person have to endure?

Attempting oxtail and slow roasted/confit tomato on the bbq.

Back in 2 hours when I have to turn the oxtail.

I signed up for this year’s 12km City to Surf.

Last time was in 2015 after flying back from Europe & getting in at midnight the morning of the event, having run my first 10k ~2 week earlier.

I was aiming for 2 hours but I hobbled a 2:13:44 after getting a calf cramp during the first kilometre.

To the person out there that I can hear doing burnouts,

I wish you the pain that I am currently in, since I was almost asleep and you decided that destroying your tyres was a better idea than leaving the night a quiet place.

No love,
The person who will now be awake for the next hour or so.

The neighbour’s new dog sometimes comes to visit when it’s left home alone.

I’m thinking about teaching it tricks.

The new-to-my-desk UPS screams every time the printer warms up and if anyone finds it smashed into a thousand pieces please tell them it wasn’t me trying to wrest my sanity from the technological banshee.

Surgeon says that the (actually really traumatic*) nerve test showed no major issue for my nerve pain or the numbness and tingling that I have had for 6+ months.

This is good because it means no serious damage or threat thereof, but bad because the current treatment plan is Wait and See.

One of the woman at my regular noodle place always suggests the chill oil/crisp for my soup.

I put less than half of the small spoon in it and it is both delicious and an amount I will have to work up to in the future.

The power company relocated the street light and the end of the street, and for 2 nights in a row I’ve driven home in dark and almost turned too early because my mental map has not updated.

New work boots survived their first day, though I’m not sure my ankle bones did as they’re not as padded as my old ones.

Might wear the old ones tomorrow though as I’m finally allowed back to full time work hours (with breaks).

Took myself out for noodles at my favourite Yunnan noodle place.

Discovered the chef makes their own pickled mustard greens.

So obviously I am now trying to work out if I can grown my own (bonsai?) szechuan peppercorn tree. I figured that growing my own mustard greens would be the easy part.
