Weird, she ‘moderated’ on trans rights and yet her opponent is still calling her a deranged leftist SJW. If only there was some kind of precedent for this so it could have been predicted in advance.

As for calling Smotrich and Ben-Gvir "fringe", it would be like in the US saying Stephen Miller and Russell Vought are "fringe". They hold leadership in central government and direct central government actions! They can't be a fringe figure when they're in charge.

To add additional context to what the problem of "Netanyahu's policies" or "fringe public figures like Smotrich/Ben-Gvir" are: statements like this attempt to separate specific political figures from active Israeli state policy and the sentiments of the broader Israeli population.
You can see this in other ways too
If someone says settlement construction is "counterproductive" as opposed to illegal, or that Israel must "investigate itself" as opposed to be investigated by the US or UN, or "Netanyahu's policies" or "fringe public figures like Smotrich/Ben-Gvir"

It's not 100% of the time but a good heuristic for determining whether or not someone is actually serious about Palestine in any way, shape or form is if they talk about "settler violence" in place of the settlements themselves. If they do that, you can guess that they're pro settlements.

I commented my favorite way to order a manhattan on a tiktok about different types of manhattans/related cocktails, and it set off an argument that has now been going for 6. days. over whether the way I order my drink is inherently contradictory.
