It's just weird isn't it when the British Museum is running a sold-out exhibition, when The Odyssey reports $1billion at the box office, when the V&A has just opened the most innovative and accessible museum model in Europe....and this is what our minister for research comes out with.
A cheery message from the new minister responsible for research funding for the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences (and the subjects that the majority of UK taught undergraduate and Masters students study).
Science and maths degrees offer most value to the nation, says minister
Chris McDonald told a room full of vice-chancellors that science, engineering and mathematics ‘offer the greatest personal, social and economic value’

The fact something as fundamental and superb as the RNLI is a charity is one of the most magical and strange things about Britain. You can support them here.

Picking on the RNLI and thinking you are the good guys is such a great example of what is presumably an irreversible brain rot, like if you opened up the bonnet on those heads it would be like when a peach has gone too mushy to be saved

Last night, hundreds of men in black emerged on the street in Portsmouth. In ugly scenes that lasted until 3am, they blocked coaches transporting migrants. The action was led by Danny Tommo’s Patriot Platform, who were also behind Saturday’s demo in Dover.

There’s been endless “Do you like the Smiths or Oasis?”, “Is it a barm or a bap?”, “What’s better Boddingtons or London Pride?”, “Name your favourite Everton player” professional Northerner shtick from Burham since his anointment.

Naturally, when actual blackshirts are on the march we get nothing 🤷🏻‍♂️
Asked if the Government considers the masked thugs swarming British ports “far right” Andy Burnham’s spokesman replies that “it's an operational matter for the police to set out their response to the protests on the ground. So I will leave them to respond to that.”

Small boat arrival numbers are at a low. Responsible journalism would ask:

- Who organised this?
- Did police have prior intelligence?
- Why were arrests not made?
- Were online networks, funding streams or political affiliations involved?
- Why now?

When masked thugs radicalised by racist hate blockade ports and threaten harm, the police make zero arrests, and the response of the government is to issue a statement sympathising with the protesters' aims and only mildly rebuking their actions, we have a big fucking problem.

This summer Britain burnt. 3000 people died from the heat.

Yet this Government is drilling for more gas, despite scientist warnings & it won't make a difference to bills in the UK.

We need to double down on renewables, not bend to the wishes of fossil fuel bosses.

More Palestinians have been killed (1,300) since the so-called ceasefire began in Gaza on 10th October 2025 than Israelis were killed on 7th October 2023 - including ten times as many children (300!) as were killed on 10/7.

This is what a 'ceasefire' looks like for Palestinians.
