it was a p/t online MA. the students seemed to like the delivery and cost. In C21 academia, that seems to be all that matters. The delivery side was poking the student fora, marking and responding to formal student complaints, not much academic satisfaction.

I had something similar about 10-15 years ago in computing. of course, the courses are rubbish, what do you expect.

thanks for the info. The last course I taught on had 1x p/t staff for each module (0.2FTE) and a 0.5FTE course leader. It was online, I suspect that's where the breakeven occurs.
Of course, the staff were in a separate company and had lower on-costs ;)

Ex-academic here, I'm very dubious too. Surely if it were a normal business you'd look at potential revenue and gear/price your offering on that. One year of 30 home students @9k is about £270k. Surely you can provide 30 weeks of course content for less than that?

I bit the bullet and bought one of these (Y1) as none of my other "retro" players (ipod, ipodtocuch, android phone) would hit the sweet spot of playing my music and syncing from linux. For £70 it works well. I could expand the sd card, but I really can't be arsed to open it up at the moment.

I found discogs and youtube were very good for finding "out of print" albums as cds or mp3-able contnet.
