Yesterday, I bought an awesome naked portafilter from Barista Brew in Auckland as I thought I'd lost my original Breville portafilter. Today, I picked up my serviced machine (which weighs a tonne) & guess what was sitting in the machine? My original portafilter. Oh, well, now, I have two.

I took my coffee machine in for a service last Friday. Took the portafilter, too, just in case they, you know, needed it. They told me they didn't so it with me. A week on, I have got no idea where I have put the portafilter. It's not where it should be. Welcome to my world.

My mother send a package (via mail) from Nelson to Auckland on 28 August. It still hasn't arrived yet. According to the tracking it's been sitting at a postal centre in Mt Roskill since 2 September. I would have got it quicker if I'd actually flown to Nelson myself to pick it up.

I've just inherited my father's Canon EOS 1000D camera & lenses (he is no longer able to use it). It's an older camera but I'm extremely keen to see what I can do with it.

RNZ reported today that a person had died after a "car plunged into a tree". Strangest use of the word plunge that I have ever seen as it's normally associated with water or liquid.

Just had to fork out money to change flights to London. Had to dip into savings. Originally going through Dubai with Emirates but now going through Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific. Finger's crossed for a refund next month - and that NZ doesn't self-implode under this govt before we get back mid-June.

NZ peeps, recommendations for travel insurance (must include, sigh, Dubai at this stage as flights at end of April still going). Yes, yes, I know the price will go up when I add my wife's diabetes but looking for recommendations. Thanks!

Friends, recommendations for travel insurers for a seven week European trip in May/June? Prices so far are ranging from $694 (1 Cover) up to $1200 (AA, I think) but keen to get recommendations, especially in these uncertain times (thanks Trump). Thanks in advance.

We're currently renting in Auckland & have gas cooking and hot water so it was nice to get an email from the gas supplier today that our daily charge is increasing from 211 cents per day to 223 cents per day.

Heading to the UK in May as part of a Europe trip (and to see the lad who lives in London). Just cost me #$NZ80 to get a UK ETA. We're in London for four days.

As a South Islander now living in Auckland, I'm really struggling with this humidity. Auckland friends, how do you cope with this energy-sapping stuff?

It bugs the bejezus out of me when businesses (looking at you Repco) don't include an "unsubscribe" link in its emails, suggesting you email your request through.

Hey, @tvnz.bsky.social how come last night's (21/01/26) episode of TM Champion of Champions isn't on demand? I had to work last night & planned to watch it tonight but the only one that is available is from June last year! What gives?

Any suggestions for an alternative mail app to Outlook? We seem to get at least half a dozen phishing emails daily, warning that our "account" has been blocked or to "please update your account or your photos will be deleted". Getting tired of it, to be honest.

Is Air New Zealand a budget airline now? Just booked expensive domestic flights for four of us to Nelson from Auckland to visit my sick father & Air NZ wants to charge us to select our seats. When has this been a thing?

I moved from CHC to Auckland 9 months ago & honestly, I just love it. How much? We just called in to pick up from the neighbours & ended up staying, having a gin & chatting. We NEVER did that in CHC over all the years we lived there. Auckland, you're bloody good.

When you buy a new fast charger & USB-C charge cable for your wife's iPhone 13 (costing $70) ... then you get home & find that you already had one that she could have used.

The sooner we ban sales of fireworks, the better: Tonight is the third night in a row my dog is unsettled & trying to find a place to hide in the house.

I don't get to do many game dev interviews these days (well, none, really) so when I do I want to share it! I spoke with Ghost of Yotei campaign director Rob Davis (an Aussie no less) for @KoruCottage koru-cottage.com/interview-ro...

Have spent much of the afternoon looking for accommodation in Rome for when we travel Europe next year. There is a bamboozling array of options. My head hurts.
