Keep your references and study what you like about them, all on the same board.

I finished and published the App Store preview of ArtDeck on iPad! Here’s a look at its reference boards and study tools.

There is a 7-day trial: apps.apple.com/app/id676485...

This time, I put together a free list of 19 game-art resources: shipped-work archives, UI references, technical-art breakdowns, talks and game jams.

The image is the whole list, so you can screenshot it or have directly the working links here: getartdeck.com/boards/game-art/

ArtDeck 1.1 is out! Add vanishing points and horizons over images, videos, and GIFs, or trace two edges to find a vanishing point. Perspective guides stay editable on the board.

New users can try ArtDeck free for 7 days! If it isn't a fit, you can still export your boards afterward.

I put together a free list of 14 animation resources.

There are model sheets, production art, early Japanese films, studio research and practice links.

You can check the balance of a character with a plumb line. For a held pose, gravity should fall inside the support area. In motion, direction and force shift the balance, so a character can look off-center and still be moving correctly.

Which pose feels more stable in the 5th image?

Trying to put together a 2-bit-inspired theme for ArtDeck. Still tweaking it and figuring out how to get the look right, but I’m really into this murky green + acid lime combo.
Any tips from connoisseurs (or anyone) are welcome!

I thought Monet’s Grainstacks had a wide value range but I was wrong!

Its warm–cool colour contrast creates strong separation even though the values are surprisingly close.

I compared four Monet paintings to unpack high key, low key, narrow range and wide range.

Any surprise for you among them?

I was drawing concepts for a personal project, references over two devices and three screens. Nothing talked to each other and I kept losing my place.

ArtDeck came out of that: one canvas that holds it all and lets you study an image without leaving it.

Out today. iPhone, iPad, Mac. Pay once.

Each quadrant of this Caravaggio carries a different balance of light and dark. Reduced to two values, the diagonal beam is the clearest path through it.

The Calling of Saint Matthew, c. 1600. Studied in ArtDeck, which I'm making.

Which painting holds up at two values?

Hi Bluesky! I’m building ArtDeck because I like keeping and studying visual references in one place. It’s an infinite canvas for arranging ideas on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, launching August 4. How do you keep references: folders, scattered PureRef files, Pinterest, or unrestricted chaos?
