There are many things I wish I'd done differently at uni, but the one that I'd tell my student self: keep on top of the washing up. Even if it wasn't all my doing. There were 5 of us sharing one kitchenette, and I wish I'd aimed to sort 50% of the manky plates, rather than aiming for a fair 20%.

There are many things I wish I'd done differently at uni, but the one that I'd tell my student self: keep on top of the washing up. Even if it wasn't all my doing. There were 5 of us sharing one kitchenette, and I wish I'd aimed to sort 50% of the manky plates, rather than aiming for a fair 20%.

Perhaps the biggest thing Silicon Valley has done is make technology appear invisible. The cloud as a literal metaphor that encourages us to think of technology as immaterial, intangible. Seamless: you can now access a web app without needing to know a tech person or get your hands dirty yourself.
Everyone is already a tech person: a poster is technology, a well-run meeting is technology, and “I’m not a tech person” is a cultural barrier we want to break down.
