Robert has a $2 million buyout if his contract is not picked up for next year. It’s a $20 million guarantee for 2027. No one is picking that up. So he is owed $3 million for the remainder of 26 and the buyout or $5 million from the team that has him on their roster through the end of the year.

If someone claims him, he’s gone. If he passes through unclaimed, he stays. Unless they release him and move him off the 40 man roster.

If no one claims him he can stay and continue to play for the next 2 days. It’s slightly different from unconditional release waivers but highly indicative of what they plan for ‘27.

The only ones who will be in the rotation next year are Scott and McLean. Thornton is earning his spot but you need bonafide ace which is why Manaea is a goner. The rest are trade commodities or potential 5th starters.

Just got to wait for some healthy bodies. And cut some dead wood on the pitching staff. Bichette looks like he’s finally settling in. But they need to shore up the defense for sure.
