"Oh, aye? If you think so. I still need all these necklaces, though?" "Yeah." "And both belts?" "Yep. It ties the theme together." "Alright, you're the boss." Some space between bubbles. "You know, we don't have to go if you don't want to." (Quickly) "You said once I could hold a glamour for two minutes-!!" "I'm not going back on it! Calm down. I'm just saying." Sorrel Ballantyne and Heliotrope Jones stand on the threshold of the vampires' house, looking out at the dark. Sorrel is leaning on the doorframe dressed in black - a dress shirt tucked into skinny jeans with Chelsea boots, layered necklaces, and stacked rings. He has a duffel bag on one shoulder and a large tote on the other. Heliotrope is standing next to him wearing culottes and a large poncho, with her hair tied in two bushy pigtails, holding a vintage suitcase in each hand. Sorrel: "This'll be your first step into the world as the new you. Don't rush it if you're not ready." Heliotrope, puffing up, determined: "I was dead ready! Let's go get my stuff!" Panels of just their feet show Heliotrope jumping down the porch steps while Sorrel treads behind. Heliotrope: "Ooh! Are you gonna fly me there?" Sorrel: "Sorry, love. What I do is more like- floating. Couldn't carry more than could fit in my pocket." Heliotrope: "Aw, that's not nearly as cool." Sorrel: "I won't argue with you there." Their feet move on to a sidewalk in a suburban area. Their dialogue implies that they are in the middle of a conversation. Heliotrope: "… But honestly I don't think either of them were that nice to her. She should've married Alice, she was the coolest one. Oh! Are there any other vampires in Seattle?" Sorrel: "Oh, loads. Not all of 'em are nice but. I'll introduce you to some of the cool ones if y'want." H: "Yes please!" S: "Alright, but don't hold your breath, we tend to lose track of time. (Aside) Y'know I thought the dad was good looking-" The scene transitions to them walking past a narrow dark alley between two homes. S: "But how does Hemera get back to the fairy realm?" H: "Because of her mom's fairy blood! She learns she can open the portal whenever she wants." S: "Well she's a clever girl." The dialogue shifts back into focus. "Alright, I think this place will do, nice an' discreet. Anyone coming, Bonny?" H: "Nope!" S: "Brilliant. Right - you're stronger now, y'know that. But you're not gonna be crushing anyone's hand instead of shaking it, like. You just gotta learn to surpass limits that aren't there any more." His rising hand illustrates this change. "So what you do is bend your knees-" He and Heliotrope squat in the alleyway- "And think of the biggest jump y'ever did in your life, then times it by three. Alright?" H: "Alright!" S: "On three- one, two-" The two vampires leap so high vertically that they clear all the rooftops in the surrounding suburb, though Heliotrope has easily jumped twice as high as Sorrel, a tiny stick figure against the night's sky. She boggles down at the rooftops below her, bursting into laughter. Sorrel calls up to her, bemused: "That was more than three times!" Heliotrope: "Wow! Wow!! Whee!" An empty panel shows only speech bubbles: "Wait- how do I land!?" Sorrel: "Bend your knees! Let's try again-" [THUMP]
