Not only is the reflecting pool green with algae, the blue paint/liner is already peeling off. I move to temporarily rename it as a living art installation, "Reflecting on Trump's Presidency."

I was already laughing at their efforts to control the algae with H2O2 added manually, 1 gal at a time.

Dammit, they're going up one more level. Psych! 🤣 Probably need it to be able to clip in their fall arrest harnesses out of their way when working. Or they're having fun being the stars of the show. They've probably never had such a cheerful audience on a job before. Saw a couple pausing for bows.

The scaffold is up! Just adding the platforms. If you want to watch the sign come down and aren't already glued to the TV, get the livestreams on now.

A construction worker shouting "Let there be light!" as the Kennedy Center lights came on is perfection! They are a piece of out country's efforts to maintain democracy. Something for them to tell grandkids or grandniblings about, or just a story to tell some volunteer at their nursing home someday.

The construction crew is back with another truckload of scaffolding. They were greeting by raucous cheers. I hope they can get done before the next storm system comes through. Looks like it's getting windy there.

Now the crowd is chanting "Take it off!" to the Kennedy Center construction crew. 🤣 I nearly spit out my drink.

I love how invested people are in watching a crew assemble scaffolding on live TV. I bet that crew is nervous having so many cameras on them, though. Can't afford the slightest misstep with any potential OSHA violations on hundreds of videos!

I'm back here. I got caught up in whatever mess AI is creating on Meta and they banned me from all of their platforms for a reason that makes no sense, won't show me what they think I said that qualifies for such a ban, won't let me appeal (I tried and they told me it has been over 30 days when it

It’s official: Elon Musk’s staffers have now illegally obtained classified information from the USAID office.

Here’s a recap of what’s happening:

Biology lesson because even those intending well are getting things wrong. I'll do this over several posts and several days. I'll start with: at the time of conception, there are no germ cells. That is when the pronuclei of the sperm and oocyte join and form the single-celled ovum. It will take 1/2

I do not believe there is a single person who truly believes it was anything BUT a Nazi salute. They are making excuses because he did the thing they speak of in hushed voices and know is frowned on by the world. They're still using dog whistles and he used the full on train whistle.

Maximum streeeeeeeeeetch. Yes, he is that long. He's clearly feeling warm and safe with his human home. His human just got home from Maui in time for this latest winter storm, so he's trying to keep me warm enough not to run away again.

Toe beans! That is all.

First day of staycation. Glad I'm not attempting travel, because white fluffy stuff happened. Clearing space for Black Friday beer hunting (not a typo).

I was a crazy cat lady before it was a political movement. Bubbles is just a crazy cat.

Unseasonably warm weather and the crocuses are blooming. It's going to be freezing again by tomorrow.

I’m just gonna say hospitals should always and forever have a policy of masking.

It’s where people go who are sick. And immunocompromised for a whole lotta reasons.

I'm noticing a pattern. Photos from last night and tonight. I've become his favorite bed.

Obligatory cat photo for social media. Meet Gizmo (the fluffy gray tabby) and Bubbles (the black shorthair). They are extra long, and take up as much bed space as they can.

I'm just going to post an introduction. I'm a university associate professor who teaches gross anatomy and physiology, primarily. My research background is in the neurobiology of reproduction (how your brain regulates what your gonads do, and how your gonads regulate what your brain does).
