God I hate corporate-speak.

Did the guy I was talking to read "fuck this fucking guy" into my "I want to get this done before [my normal approver] comes back?"

Can I read "yeah, he's an asshole" into his "I get it, but..."?

argh.

Does anyone actually watch found-footage movies?

Why the fuck do they keep making these things?

Soju and Velveeta shells, a treat for myself because server patching is done.

I swear to God, man.

Two dogs off-leash, going the wrong way.

It's a dual-use trail, walkers and mountainbikers.

The rules are so simple, and they exist for a reason.

Watching: Shudderbugs

Decently shot and acted, but Jesus God nothing is happening.

There's no suspense or tension or stakes or rising action or anything.

1:17 in and its barely about anything.

There is a movie that was beneath Joe Estavez, my god.

He is in Future Force for a scene that runs from 9:37 - 12:22, where he is killed by our actual villains.

IMDB does not have his name in the credits.

We're having us a decent heavy rain down here, and I love the sound of it.

It feels like it should be a Culture ship name.

Maybe a well-armed GCU that goes to dangerous situations?

Not meant as a criticism of the comic, but: this genuinely gives RFK Junior too much credit.

Baggage handlers were at least hired by the airport for a competency that mattered.

RFK Jr. was selected for anti-competency.

Its more like if the passengers made a random flerf the pilot.

I played in a Star Trek RPG once, and I insisted on wearing a spacesuit every time we beamed down to a planet.

Eventually the GM yelled at me, "come on, man, you have to allow the plot to happen."

One of the trivial answers to this question is just "because the shit you want to learn eventually builds on the shit I'm teaching you now."

Oh, you don't like pointer/array symmetry in C? But you'd like to learn OpenGL programming, yeah? Well, I have bad news...

The Devil Within: actually really good so far.

Rough. This is not a fun and upbeat movie.

…holy shit, that's a real D. C. Talk song they just used.

Watching: Malice

This is shaping up to be some Things-level shit.

And we're scratching off the "showing a better movie in your bad movie" bingo-card square 5 minutes in.

SCOTUS, which ordered Alabama to create a second Black opportunity district just 3 years ago, has lifted that order a week before the primary. The Purcell principle says courts shouldn't permit chaos too close to an election—it's now an open question whether there will even be a primary on schedule.

Didn't have the idea in time this year - and I'm not going anyway - but some day I'm gonna go to FWA dressed as the Deer God from Black Mountain Side, and I'm gonna marry the first person who plays along.

Learning nushell has been going great.

My first learning project was a script to download a podcast feed; that turned out to be really simple. Done in like 30 lines and an hour.

Turns out nu is pretty awesome.

The XAI/Anthropic deal is big in many ways, one of which is that it feels like an admission of defeat from Elon. Can't create a model good enough to compete with Claude so suddenly you've become a service provider for the company you accused of Destroying Western Civilization last month

Spent a couple days off-and-on writing a podcast downloader in rust. Working with quick_xml was torture; never finished it.

Tried a comparison in C#, which I also don't know: incredibly quick and painless. Done in an hour and a half, including learning how to do everything.

Fuck rust, kinda.

I've been learning Rust lately, and it's not going great. I have a lot of gripes, but the one that's getting me right this second is how batteries-not-included it is compared to python.

So many "how do I do XYZ" questions require external libraries, in cases that python stdlib just covers.
