I know it sounds the same (homonym-like), but I think you meant to say that Mets fans should wake up every day and curse this guy.

I did a slightly different riff on your advice. I “contributed” using the Google Maps app

Today's #BirdOfTheDay alt theme is #TheWaitingGame

For Stilts, like the #AmericanAvocet, after mating mate, for is a moment when the male slides off, & with one wing still over her back, they cross bills. Wait for it!

Moments after mating, the male American Avocet slides off the female's back, keeping one wing still over her back they cross bills, This post-mating sequence only lasts a short moment and the photographer must be ready.

Good morning! #BirdOfTheDay. Today’s alternate is #Swans. “Any swan will do.”

I give you Jonathon Swan, noted journalist. (Confession: the photo is not mine)

Carry on.

Yeah, LinkedIn has some… quirks to be sure. When I retired I changed my job title to Chief Poobah…

You can’t make this stuff up!

When I retired, about 10 years ago, I changed my job title in LinkedIn to “Chief Poobah.” Alas, it appears that the AI bots think that is a fine profession. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Happy birthday to Ernie Banks!

It's not often you get to meet one of your heroes. I was lucky to to get a brief moment to meet and shake hands with Ernie on the hallowed Wrigley Field infield. I have this photo from '67 or '68 as my cherished souvenir from that day.

A black and white photo of a group of people standing near home plate at Wrigley field. The legendary Cubs Hall of Famer, Ernie Banks, stands in uniform in the back row. The photo is from 1967 nor 1968.

Soup de Saison at Restaurant Josephine in Auburn, CA. Unfortunately, I forgot to take the photo before I started. Insanely good two-mushroom puree that I tore through.

I’m a failure as a food photographer, but that’s your loss. This dish was over-the-top great!!
An empty bowl that contained an incredible mushroom puree soup. It would have looked unassuming anyhow, but it was out of this world good!!

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #TwoOfaKind.

Supposedly, odd numbers make for better compositions. So these all suck. Probably.

A pair of White-tail Kites perch together on a sunny afternoon on a bare-limbed tree. The sky is a cloudless blue. Back-to-back, two Swallow-tail Bee Eaters perch on a leafless Acacia tree branch. Bathed in sunlight, their vibrant green/blue/yellow colors appear in stark contrast to beige Etosha National Park (Namibia) background. Two Cedar Waxwings perch atop a tree on a sunny, cloud-free day. A pair of California Quail forage for food on some low, leafy ground cover.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #LongBeaks. Here are 4.

So many of our larger birds have long beaks. Here are 4 less common ones.

A Long-billed Curlew stalks the shallow water looking for lunch. A close-up portrait of a Black-headed Heron taken in the Serengeti of Tanzania. A Marbled Godwit is lit by the late evening sun as it wanders a muddy shore somewhere in Elkhorn Slough, California. A Sacred Ibis stands among the vegetation in a marshy area, its black head and tail in stark contrast to its white body.

Bald Eagle (Alaska)

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #Solitude.

On a long, cold morning on the Chikat River, this Baldie had the log and this part of the river to himself.

A Bald Eagle sits alone on a frozen log on the banks of the Chilkat River in Alaska. Cast in shadow, the far bank appears a cold blue. A plume of steam from the eagle's exhale can be seen drifting up.

Today's #BirdOfTheDay is #BirdsInFlight. Here are 4.

A smattering of birds in flight from around the world.

A Yellow-billed Stork flies across a partly cloudy sky. We can clearly see the red head and yellow bill, which is slightly opened. The body is mostly white with black fringe on the wings and a solid black tail. A Bald Eagle soars across a blue sky with a soft, out-of-focus moon behind it. A Horned Puffin flies through a rainstorm on the way to get food for its young. A Green-crowned Brilliant hovers in the air in front of a tantalizing, red Heliconia plant.

A juvenile Great Pootoo sits perched on a large limb amongst a field of green leaves. It appears to be squinting. Cliff Swallows sit in their mud nests built on the underside of a nolonger used bridge. A Ring-necked Pheasant struts across an open field on an overcast day. A male American Kestrel perches on a cable in the afternoon sun, striking a stark contrast to the uninterrupted blue sky.

A real potpourri today. Hope you like 'em!

#birds #ornithology #photography #BirdPhotography #nature #NaturePhotography #wildlife #WildlifePhotography #HornedPuffin #BaldEagle #LittleBlueHeron #GreatEgret
A Horned Puffin flies back to the nest with some Sand Ells for the young ones. The Puffins wings are extended as it flies against a very overcast sky. A Juvenile Bald Eagle grabs at an exhausted post-spawn salmon. The Eagle takes a striking pose with its wing fully extended as it sticks out one leg to pluck the salmon out of the water from the bank. A blue cloud with skies is reflected in the water. A Little Blue Heron holds up a trophy of a crayfish in the tips of its beak. It stands on a grassy slope near a waterway that is not visible in the photo. Standing a number of yards away from a pond on a grassy shore, a Great Egret holds a gopher it its beak prior to consuming it.

Great light might be an overcast to reduce shadows, or the warmth of "golden hour" light. Here its more of a spotlight.
