Rendering & Composition Corrections: This part of the process takes the longest, but it may be the most fun for me. Biggest change made in the painting was the queen's hands. Originally, I wanted them backwards to show she was a rakshasa in disguise, but ultimately decided it was too uncanny.

Grayscale Render & Initial Color Layers: I render the painting in grayscale in the beginning before adding back in color with some color layers. You can also see here that I was originally planning to make the queen a blue tiefling before committing to the pink theme.

Color Tests: I like to do a color test early on to see if I like the general direction that I am going in piece.

Sketch Phase: Started super loose and then refined some of the focal points. 90% of my character work sketches start with a skull to help guide my structure and angle of the face

I ended up not having enough time to complete this due to some time constraints with new projects, but I loved this character concept, so I still wanted to share this sketch! 🐸
