JULY 30, 1958. 💫 Long before alternative music was cool, a 19-year-old girl sat at a piano with a literary classic, a haunting voice, and a vision so radically original that the music industry had no choice but to bend around her. Happy Birthday to the supreme priestess of art-rock, Kate Bush! 🕯️✨ When Kate burst onto the scene in 1978 with “Wuthering Heights,” she didn’t sound like anyone else on the radio—and she never tried to. At a time when women in rock were expected to fit neatly into specific boxes, Kate seized total creative control. She wrote her own music, produced her own records, invented early wireless headset microphones so she could dance freely on stage, and created theatrical, cinematic soundscapes that broke every rule in the book. From the lush, emotional thunder of Hounds of Love to the avant-garde wizardry of “Running Up That Hill” and “Cloudbusting,” her influence reaches across generations. Everyone from Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour (who championed her early demos) to Florence + the Machine, Björk, and St. Vincent owes a massive debt to her fearless individuality. Decades later—as a whole new generation discovered her genius through television and social media—Kate Bush proved that timeless, unapologetic art never ages. It only waits for the rest of the world to catch up. #KateBush #HoundsOfLove #RunningUpThatHill".
