Today I added some more creatures to my painting. I'm hoping to finish it in the next couple of days. Then the scary part happens. Varnishing the painting. Making sure it goes on evenly, with no bubbles or brush hairs. Three coats once dry off to the framer’s.

A magical Autumn morning to the woods. As the sun broke through a mackerel sky. It's pattern of rippling altocumulus or cirrocumulus clouds looked like the scales of a fish. A mackerel sky foretells rain or a change in weather often arrives within 6 to 24 hours.

Another crop of tomatoes and two more jars of tomatoe sauce to see us through the winter. It would have been three jars but one cracked.
Oh mm. Never mind. Still learning this bottling lark. 🤭🤣😂

Can you spot the changes to the painting?
Today I've been working on the ducks and horses. This has made me think more about the background.
So I've made some changes there.

Today, I've been focusing on The Wayfarer’s Path. The end is almost in sight. There are a few areas I'm not happy with at the moment, but they won't take much to fix.

The pink-and-white flowers of Cyclamen a basket my friend, Hazel gave me at Christmas. So pleased they flowered again as she passed away early in the year making them so special. Yellow Angel's Trumpet finally flowered. Plenty of loquat flower bud clusters on the tree and passion flower buds.

Hello everyone!
I'm officially an old person. I've just ordered my bus pass!
‘Why only now, Paula?’
Well, last time I tried online it said ‘No.’
So just now I tried again, and amazingly I managed to find all the paperwork and photos to get one. ❤️🎨Cheaper travel for me. 🎨❤️

Russell and I took a run to Maldon to pick up some more paints for my art. The house faced the estuary and had wonderful views of Maldon’s boat-building yards. Then we took a long journey through the country lanes back to Peterfields, an antique centre with little shops.
It was a lovely drive.

Been busy working on my painting. I finally feel I'm getting somewhere with it after a week’s break. Still lots to do before it is finished.

Spider bites its prey, waits, once its food stops moving it’s safe to remove it to its larder.
Before you think this is awful. How could I just stand and watch. It is the circle of life. Plus, you just buy your food from a shop, so you don’t see the struggle between life and death play out.

I’m so excited to know that Russell Sansom, Stewart and I will be together forever in metal in Whitby, the place we love the best.
The Spirit Walkway is up near Whitby Abbey in Yorkshire where my family originated. I traced my origins back 250 years in and around Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Out and about this morning. We went to Helmsley. We love the market town's peace. When we arrived there weren't many visitors, as it was still early. Russell loves Hunters’ shop to pick up local gins. I chatted with a lady in a local art gallery. The weather was bright but a bit chilly.

Yesterday, I managed to get quite a bit done, but still no way near finished. Started to fill in the back ground with wild flowers.

Step by Step: The Wayfarer’s Path. Okay, I know it doesn't look like I've done much, but I've been focusing on the bridge’s stonework. I've added thicker columns in the middle of the arches. In the past, I'm sure sheep and cattle would have been driven across it on their way to market.

Today, I flipped about the painting doing a little bit here and there. A second new creature has appeared too. Zoom in and see if you can find it. I worked on the horses, but I'm still not happy with them. Oh, well another day tomorrow and still lots to do. The bridge still needs more work.

Step by Step The Wayfarer’s Path
The painting size is 70 cm by 50 cm. Today, I focused on the bridge. It isn’t finished yet, but it’s taking shape. I enlarged the arches and started looking at the texture of the water, too.

I’ve been busy using the vegetables from my garden to make a base for pasta or stew sauces. If the war comes to Britain this is good practice. Now I’m going to bottle some apples for my store cupboard.
I now have an aubergine 🍆 growing. Hopefully the other two plants will produce fruit, too.

Do you enjoy short stories?
Take a moment at the end of the day. Or, a moment rest in a busy day. A moment of escapism, with your favourite drink. Enjoy.

We hunted out a new footpath which took us to a garden centre with a cafe. Ana and I wanted to see if the route was suitable for the Thursday Morning Walking Group. It was amazing and so peaceful with tea and cake at the end. It took 1 and a half hours to walk.
