Life has changed dramatically in the last 30 years.

We all use the internet far more, and are far less likely to read books, host friends, attend parties, play cards, attend classes, join clubs, go to picnics, and stay late to work.

An enormous sendoff this morning for Simon Trewin. He was a giant of the publishing industry but the tributes were all about his empathy, curiosity and deep interest in other people, and the way he'd brought so many people in the (packed) church together. It's how anyone would want to be remembered.

Every time someone links to this film, I have to repost it. It's one of the most significant bits of British 20th century art. Everything about it is incredible. Groundbreaking music production by Daphne Oram. Amazing camera work by Wolfgang Suschitzky (who later filmed Get Carter).-

I think the sorry phenomenon of gig-filming is 90 percent about socials, rather than believing you'll ever watch it back. I feel like in the past decade or so we've been reprogrammed bit by bit to believe if we don't share what we're doing with everyone, it almost doesn't count as doing it at all.
honestly I think literally all gigs should do this, sincerely don't understand what people believe they're achieving by not meaningfully watching a gig and instead filming a video they will obviously never watch again, hateful behaviour, get rid
another great thing about Jack White’s gig is that it’s phone free - all phones sealed in a pouch you keep with you - and just being able to watch the show without the glare of screens was like time-travel
