There are better ways forward:
✔️ Adopt climate regulations such as banning the sale of gas boilers and cut fossil fuel subsidies ahead of 2027.
✔️ Set up direct payments to households financed by carbon pricing revenues.

But 16+ EU countries are pushing to weaken the system before it even starts. They want changes in the market structure which in practice will result in more emissions.

Concerns about rising costs and their impact on households are valid, but gutting the carbon pricing system isn’t the answer.
