I think part of the generational divide with Backrooms is that once you've reached a certain age, an office with a bizarre, nonsensical layout is pretty normal. I once worked in a building that used to be a swimming pool and had a closet built to house a giant rock. This is just real estate footage.

Bluesky needs a way to indicate "I've had an interesting thought that's a little funny, and would enjoy some group engagement with this idea." vs "I've just made a small joke and would hate it if someone were to try to engage with this idea and ruin the joke."

Wow Apple, really loving this new feature where every time I power down my phone it gets activation locked and can only be unlocked over a WiFi network. Like, at what point do security features do more harm than good and how long ago did we cross that line?

I know watching them is probably positive reinforcement, but these AI ads for physics-defying pressure washers and fire starters on YouTube are so staggeringly bad and dumb that I simply can not take my eyes off them.

Being an adjunct is wild. Everyone agrees that relying on adjuncts is a bad and the whole system is pretty unethical. So clearly the only solution is to fire all the adjuncts and hire someone fresh out of grad school to teach those classes instead.

@gruber.foo The cause of Buttfield-Addison's account lockout is beside the point. Regardless of cause, it's wholly unacceptable for Apple's policy when locking your AppleID to effectively brick all logged in devices and insist the only solution is to buy new devices and accept data loss.

One of the worst things movies and TV has done to us is create the expectation that you have to “understand” art in order to enjoy it. Like, you can just go to a museum and enjoy how pretty the pictures are. You can watch people dance and just think it looks neat. No narrative required.
