Diet can be an IBS treatment. In post-hoc tests, only low-FODMAP plus advice differed from the drug arm.

In 294 adults, 4-week ≥50-point IBS-SSS response: 76% low-FODMAP plus advice, 71% experimental low-carb/high-fat, 58% one symptom-targeted drug.

A regulated microbiota treatment can help prevent recurrent C. difficile infection.

In 182 adults, recurrence through 8 weeks was 12.4% with SER-109 and 39.8% with placebo. Now FDA-approved as Vowst, it is used after antibiotics, not instead of them.

A randomized trial tested pasteurized A. muciniphila in 143 adults with metabolic syndrome. Whole-body insulin sensitivity at 4 months, the primary endpoint, did not improve. Favorable findings appeared in exploratory subgroups and need confirmation.
