To put this in perspective, that "data center uses as much water as 16,000 people" story says that is 805,000 gallons a day. Which sounds like a lot, but that is only 902 acre-feet of water per year. Versus the MILLIONS of acre-feet of water alfalfa uses a year.

From a human suffering perspective, its one of the most horrific things the US has ever done. You dont care. Sadly, most Americans dont care either, I dont want Dems to run on it, because they would lose votes. They need to quietly fix it after Trump is out of office. It's the Trans issue x1000.

I honestly find you disgusting. So many leftists in this country dont give a fuck about the larger issues our country and the world face from an empowered Trump. Literally millions of people are dying because of USAID cuts, you dont care because black people in Africa aren't real to you.

The more I think the more her explanation of transplant as a derogatory word doesnt even make sense.
The other uses of the word: 1) repotting a plant 2) giving someone a new organ
For a plant, it IS usually harrowing, FOR THE PLANT
And in the medical field, the transplant is saving the body

Isn't that section of the graph primarily showing wage growth outpacing inflation? Inflation is more than wage growth briefly at the peak around 2022, and then very recently in 2026, but there are several years in the middle where that isnt true. Yet sentiment doesnt move to reflect those changes

This whole debate is fascinating because on one level I dont believe AI are conscious or "thinking" the way living creatures do. I have no moral qualms about switching off AI that I have for killing. But then I abstract it to any sci fi movie, am I just the bigot who doesnt believe in robot rights?

The "thinking" of ai is demystefied because we can look behind the curtain and see exactly how it works. Who is to say if we could crack open a squirrel's brain and unspool its thoughts into code we wouldn't see similar processes that dont resemble our idea of true "thought"? Same with human thought

Don't we use "thinking" for lots of non humans tho? People regularly describe dogs, cats, or even insects, as "thinking." Is the "thinking" of an llm the same as that of an animal? Idk. I dont think so, but that's the point of a large body of philosophy, we can only truly know our own inner self.

People like this are refusing to live in the real world. We are talking about Ohio/Texas. These are like double digit trump states, not CA. If you say you are not going to vote for the Dem, that makes a permission structure to 1) ignore your constituency in the future and 2) get blamed for a loss

One of many things that annoys me about their takes is how performative they are, they have no thought of how their non vote will build/shrink power for their movement. If he wins despite their nonvote it teaches politicians u are small and can be ignored. If he loses, we are legit fucked by the GOP

I agree generally that things weren't perfect after 9/11, but the thing that bugs me far more is what many people tend to do: imagining the Bush era as far worse as some sort of "Trump isnt that different" cope. There were zero non white refugees to the US last year ffs. Its worse here now people.
