oh and once the xbox goes online again it immediately takes away the option to change the date. you have literally no choice.

I know this is a super edge case but... why Xbox... why...

but on Xbox? ohhh boy
you have to:
- make sure the xbox is your home xbox
- be offline
- restart the console
- then you're allowed to change the date to a custom date

there is:
- no way to just turn off sync, ever
- you HAVE to restart the console from online to offline mode
