that's true, i'm just more surprised that it was this particular guy out of all people that decided to go ahead and use ai. he didn't come off as being that sort of person at all to me, which makes it all the more surprising and confusing

... and now as i'm typing this, i'm beginning to think: did he actually know japanese to a decent level? or did he just use stuff like lunatranslator to translate games and chatgpt to make posts in japanese to make it seem like he did? i really hope not, but now i can't help but wonder... 😕

(i know one guy doing a j-e translation for a whole game would be a laborious task, but i'm sure if he reached out and asked for help some people would contribute. admittedly i'm not a fsr megafan but even i would have offered to help a bit with the translation side of things if he really needed it)

i will say, i did find it odd when the patch first dropped that it was simply the eu ds translation with a couple of tweaks. i thought the patchbay works guy had a pretty good grasp on japanese, so why wouldn't he take the time to translate it from scratch and provide a more accurate translation?

having spoken to the patchbay works guy a few times he always seemed very sensible and down-to-earth, so i'm surprised he would do something like this. surely he must have known the blowback he would receive when people found out he used ai? especially in a fandom like ghm. completely bizarre stuff

i always think of kaim being quite tall but kakanas is an absolute giant in comparison
