I turn on US news, and never last more than 5 minutes. I find the stress of listening to a sociopathic narcissist hating on parts of his own country, and msm treating it like it’s another day in America is astonishing and alarming to me. November elections will be such a dangerous time.

I’ve really limited my viewing of US cable news. Not for the reasons you’ve stated, but because it’s so depressing watching Americans let Trump trash your democracy.

I was actually raised by one. He was an amazing husband and father. He would have been a Democratic Socialist today. There was no such political party in Scotland when he was a young man who believed citizens should take an interest in the politics of their country.

I know that for many professions that the US is still very desirable, but I can’t see now how it would be attractive to most working and middle class immigrants looking for a better life. When we emigrated several decades ago I’m so relieved - and happy, we chose Canada.
