Native forest logging is a climate disaster - but it's also financially ruinous. Not only are we facing a wood supply cliff, but this week we are also facing a budget cliff.

The numbers around short stay are frightening - hundreds of whole homes being converted to short stay and councils can't do a thing about it.

After long absence, Tasmania's short-stay figures just got released
Almost 500 dwellings in Tasmania have been converted to short-stay accommodation in just over a year. It's the first time short-stay data has been updated since the end of 2024.

The budget's reforms to negative gearing and capital gains tax are a welcome step toward fixing a rental market that's become unsustainable for everyone involved.

Years of generous tax incentives for landlords has created a churning market for rental properties.

Have the Government done their due diligence on the stadium contract bidders? Webuild, one of the companies involved, has run into serious issues delivering projects in NSW, and have been put on notice by the NSW Government.

Housing is shaping up to be the key issue in Parliament this week, as we debate the Short Stay Levy among other measures. But the housing crisis won't be fixed by tinkering at the edges.

Solidarity with HACSU members striking today in protest at the government's plans to sell off Clare House and move Child and Youth Mental Health Services into a totally inappropriate CBD location with barely any consultation. I've written to Minister Archer to ask what's going on.

On this 30th anniversary of Port Arthur, my heart goes out to those who still grieve for lives lost and lives changed forever.

Many were affected - the local community, workers at the site, first responders, health workers, tourists and locals alike.

Tasmanians see you and will never forget.
