Another thought. The typical gamer usually doesn't have any other hobbies. Like music or books or crafts. That's why they get so angry about minor things they don't like in video games. They have no other outlet.

I guess they go hand in hand in my mind. All of my friends are very invested in music and we've played games our entire lives as well. suppose I have met a people whose idea of music is bumping the soundtrack to SNES Metroid and never really branching into traditional music not "video game" music.
